Eligibility for Application:

It is mandatory to be an Indian citizen. Male, female, and transgender individuals are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification: 

Candidates must have passed a graduation degree from a recognized university or an equivalent examination recognized by the State Government by 01.08.2025.

Age Limit Calculation: 

The age limit will be calculated as of 01.08.2025, but candidates who meet the maximum age limit prescribed by the Government as of 01.08.2024 may also apply.

Age Limit as on 01.08.2025 will be as follows:

• For men belonging to the unreserved (general) category, the minimum age is 20 years and the maximum age is 37 years, and for women, the minimum age is 20 years and the maximum age is 40 years.

• For men and women belonging to Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes, the minimum age is 20 years and the maximum age is 40 years.

• For men and women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and third gender candidates, the minimum age is 20 years and the maximum age is 42 years.

• Government servants of Bihar who have completed a minimum period of three years of regular service will be given a relaxation of five years in the maximum age limit for appearing in competitive examinations for joining a service/cadre with a higher pay scale.

• Ex-servicemen will be given a relaxation of three years in the maximum age limit for appointment to civilian posts and an amount equivalent to the sum of the period of service spent in the Defence Services, provided their actual age does not exceed 57 years on the cut-off date.

• The age of the candidate will be calculated on the basis of the date of birth mentioned in the Matriculation or equivalent examination certificate.

Reservation:-

• Reservation in vacancies in Bihar posts and services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1991 (Bihar Act 3 of 1992) (as amended from time to time) will be applicable.

• Provisions for women:-

As per the provisions of the Bihar Reservation in Vacancies of Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1991 (Act 3, 1992) (as amended from time to time), while keeping the 3 percent reservation for women of backward classes intact, 35 percent posts against 97 percent posts of the remaining reserved and non-reserved classes, in each reservation category, will be reserved for women separately. This reservation will be horizontal reservation. By the Resolution No.-12575, dated-09.07.2025 of the General Administration Department, Government of Bihar, Patna, 35 percent horizontal reservation has been made available only to women who are natives of the State of Bihar.

Provided that in case of non-availability of sufficient number of eligible female candidates, the remaining vacancy shall be filled by eligible male candidates of the same category.

Provided further that in addition to the above 35 per cent reservation for women, women may also be appointed as per merit as per the provision contained in Section 4(3) of the Bihar Act 3, 1992.

• Provision for grandson/granddaughter/grandson/granddaughter of freedom fighters of Bihar State: As per Resolution No. 13185, dated 03.09.2015 of the General Administration Department, provision of 2 (two) percent horizontal reservation in appointment will be applicable for grandson/granddaughter/grandson/granddaughter of freedom fighters of Bihar State who are sanctioned pension by the Central Government. Selected candidates will be counted in the reserved/non-reserved category to which they belong.

• The provisions of the “Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Economically Weaker Sections) Act, 2019” will apply. For this purpose, a certificate based on income and assets for the financial year 2024-2025 will be admissible.

• Provisions for Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra/Transgender (Third Gender) of Bihar State:-

Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra/Transgender (Third Gender) have been included independently at serial number 47 in the list of backward classes (Schedule-2) of the Bihar Reservation in Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1991. As per Resolution No. 12722, dated 12 September 2014 of the General Administration Department, Government of Bihar, Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra/Transgender (Third Gender) persons will get the benefit of reservation given to backward classes in the services of the State Government.
